A must go to place if you want to taste their Beef Nihari alongwith their wonderful Dal Puri. But make sure to be there at the wake of before dawn (during winters). They also make excellent Beef dishes throughout the year which is a must try, if you like to have them.

Legendary. And they mean it. Let the mornings be heavy and rich, lets kick it off with Daal Puri and Mutton Curry. A heavenly milk tea is highly recommended. A must visit between 4 a.m to 8 a.m

The food is amazing for beef lovers that is why the 1st thing I did post landing back in Kolkata was ran and had Nihari and Dal puri. Now I love beef but there are options for Mutton and chicken nihari also. Must have nostalgia.

Sufiya restaurant has always been famous for its Beef Nehari accompanied with Daal Puri & Tandoori Roti. The best thing about Sufiya is that it has maintained its flavour and quality. I have been visiting Sufiya for many years and I haven't noticed even a little drop in their taste. Though it's getting a bit pricey every year. If you eat beef and like nehari then this is a must visit place for you in Kolkata.

Legacy are to made and maintained. This fine restaurant provide food from as early as 4 o clock in the morning. Went there to have Dal Puri and Mutton stew together with the breakfast tea. And I must say, the was delicious and the Dal Puri had its own charm. Anyone who will have the craving for mutton at the middle of the night, I must suggest them to try this place out.

|NIHARI AT SUFIA, KOLKATA| We, the people of Kolkata, have certain obsession over roadside morning breakfasts no matter what. Strings of local stalls selling kochuri sobji, radhaballavi, luchi cholar dal etc. is ultimately what we crave for. But, irrespective of those regular meals, why not try something different this time? Sufia's famous warm breakfast gives one such experience where people queue up early in the morning especially during the winters. 🔹 ABOUT NIHARI- The word 'Nihari' came from the Arabic word, 'Nahar' meaning 'morning'. It is made from the shank meat of beef along with the bone marrow. Slow cooked for 6-8 hours, the meat is cooked with spices in huge vessels sealed with dough. 🔹 WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT IT? It is said that Nihari was eaten on an empty stomach by the Nawabs during the Mughal period as a breakfast meal usually after the morning prayers. Soon as years passed by, it gained popularity as a home remedy for cold, fever, boosting immunity etc along with it's satisfying taste. Sufia Restaurant, an age-old establishment having mediocre ambiance yet setting the bar high when it comes to serving mouth watering nihari & paya. Two big tender pieces of meat is served in a plate (Rs 140/-) with coriander leaves and chillies garnished on the top going perfectly with gorom gorom dal puris/tandoori rotis (Rs 5/- pc) Lastly, don't forget to squeeze lemon into the dish as it takes you to a whole new aromatic ride. So, sacrifice your sleep for one morning & don't forget to thank me later. ✅ Available only in Beef ✅ Takeaway available ✅ Timings: Mon-Sun, 5am- 8am (go as early as possible)

Nihari tasted heavenly , I was not quite sure about the combination with Dalpuri but to my surprise it felt very light to eat. Firni tasted unique. Price very reasonable. Edit December 2024 : the nihari quality stays top notch. Dalpuris tasted even better this time. Wow wow, you can even visit this place only for the dalpuris. Priced at 5 each is a bargain. Half portion of nihari is 150, which is enough for one person. Firni is 40 rupees. December '25 : same taste of the nihari, visited on a Saturday, so experienced bit of a rush this time. Had to queue up for nearly 50 minutes but as I knew it was worth the wait. Price has increased quite significantly this time though, not sure it's because of the weekend or not.

Tried the early morning Mutton Paya with Daal Puri at this iconic restaurant. The shop opens at 5am in the morning with the food pallete ranging from Nihari, Paya, Daal Poori and Tandoori Roti in the early hours. People not so fond of Rewazi Mutton may find the smell of the Paya a little too strong, but the tenderness of the slow cooked meat is unmatched compared to other stores. The opening hour changes during Ramdan with the inclusion of Haleem during that festive time. The place has limited number of tables, so one might need to share one with other customers. The cost of food is also very affordable here, but do keep in mind they only accept cash payments (no Cards or UPI)
